Nightbear
Dare to dream.
You are a teddy bear. When The Child falls asleep, the nightmares come — huge, surreal monsters born from whatever scared them that day — and you are the only thing standing between them and a good night's sleep.
Each night is a battle against one great nightmare creature. Some are big enough that fighting them means climbing them, hunting for the weak point while the dream world bends around you. The tone is cartoon nightmare: dark, strange, and heartfelt rather than gory — Silent Hill by way of a storybook.
The first Nightbear was a proof of concept built in a single week for the SCREAMORTALITY Scream Zone game jam in 2021. The design has since grown into the much larger game described above, now in development. The jam build — the brave defender of dreams in his first form — stays free to play on itch.io:
