Privacy policy
For Pen Arcade, Segno Score, and Whereverbook, from Vector Visionary Studio.
Last updated: October 26, 2026
The short version: our apps have no accounts, no ads, and no third-party trackers, and they work fully offline. The one thing they can send us is anonymous usage statistics — and you choose how much. The default level is Minimal, and you can switch to None at any time to send nothing at all. This page spells out exactly what each level sends.
Usage statistics: the three levels
Beta versions ask once, the first time you run the app. You can change your choice at any time under Settings → Usage statistics; the app never asks again. If you never choose, Minimal applies.
Every event, at any level that sends, is a small record containing: the event's name, the app's version, the time our server received it, and an installation ID — a random number the app generates on your device so we can count how many installs did something without knowing who they are. It is not your device ID, your advertising ID, or anything tied to you personally, and it resets if you reinstall (unless you restore it yourself from your own data export). When an event arrives, our server also notes a one-way hash of your IP address (the address itself is never stored), your country and region as reported by the network, and your device model and Android version, which your device includes in the request automatically. Events are stored on our own server and are never sold or shared with third parties.
None — send nothing
Nothing is logged, queued, or sent. No installation ID is created or kept. If you switch to None after using another level, the app deletes its installation ID and any unsent events from your device immediately.
Minimal — the default
Only these events:
- The app was opened.
- A game or session started — which game, and at what difficulty (in Segno Score, opening a project counts as a session).
- A game or session finished — which game, the difficulty, and how long it took. Themed puzzles in Pen Arcade are counted the same way: which theme puzzle was started and finished.
- Your statistics level itself, whenever you set or change it, so we know the numbers above are the whole picture.
Nothing about how you played — no moves, no scores beyond finishing, no content. In Whereverbook, Minimal sends only app opens: what you read is never sent at this level.
Detailed — everything above, plus detail
For people who want to help us tune the apps more deeply:
- Pen Arcade: one record per puzzle — which game, the puzzle's random seed (enough to regenerate that exact puzzle), its size and difficulty, how long it took to generate and to play, whether you finished, gave up, or moved on, how many hints, checks, undos, and restarts you used, and whether you played with the pen or your finger. Also: daily-puzzle streaks, when a hint is used and how deep it escalated, when a game's guide is opened, when the input mode is switched, and a note that a bug report was submitted (its category only — never its contents).
- Segno Score: which tracks you play during rehearsal.
- Whereverbook: the articles you read and favorite (their titles and which wiki they're from), and any wikis you add (the wiki's address and name).
Events are collected on your device first and sent in batches when you're online — nothing is sent live, and if you're offline they simply wait. Choosing None discards whatever is waiting.
Bug reports — only when you send one
Reports are entirely voluntary and only ever sent when you tap send. A report contains: the subject and description you write, your name only if you choose to add it, the app's version, a diagnostics note (your device's manufacturer and model and its Android version) and the app's debug log, and any files you choose to attach. Replies between you and us stay in the app's report thread.
In Pen Arcade, you can also volunteer your handwriting samples to help improve number recognition. That submission contains your drawn digit samples, how many there are, the app version, and the same device basics (manufacturer, model, Android version). Your handwriting is otherwise recognized entirely on your device and never leaves it.
Updates and content feeds
At most once a day, each app downloads a small public file from our website to check whether a newer version exists, and Pen Arcade similarly fetches its seasonal puzzle themes. These requests carry no identifiers at all — they're the same for everyone, and they are not statistics. We count the total number of fetches per day, in aggregate, to know the files are being reached; that count is not tied to any installation.
Whereverbook's online mode
Whereverbook is an offline reader first. If you turn on online mode, the app loads images and follows links from the wiki you're reading — for example Wikipedia, run by the Wikimedia Foundation. Those requests go from your device directly to that wiki's servers, which receive them like any web visit and handle them under their own privacy policies.
Where data lives, and your choices
- Statistics and reports are stored on our own backend (hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure). We don't sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything except understanding how the apps are used and fixing problems.
- We keep statistics while they're useful for improving the apps, and bug reports while an issue is being worked and for a reasonable time after.
- Stop everything: set Usage statistics to None — collection stops instantly and permanently until you change it.
- Delete what's already sent: your installation ID is shown in the app under Settings → Your data (Export). Contact us with that ID and we'll delete every event tied to it.
- Uninstalling removes everything the app stored on your device, except files you exported yourself.
- Our apps are general-audience tools and aren't directed at children under 13; we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Questions or requests: reach us through the in-app Report a Problem (mention "privacy") or via the Vector Visionary LinkedIn page. If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update this page and note the new date at the top.
